About Us
Long established in Wigston, a south Leicester suburb, the partners, Martin Stevenson and Kathryn Harper, took over some 25 years ago. The ethos of the business has always been to provide the highest quality eyecare using the latest technology, both to examine the eyes and to dispense advanced lenses in a professional and welcoming environment. We have another practice situated on the west of the city under the name of J N Stocks Associates. Both practices are equipped to a very high standard with both diagnostic and clinical equipment and with dispensing tools. We have given optical advice to industry throughout our partnership. We are the Leicestershire Police and Fire Services optical advisors and opticians.
The Staff
We have three optometrists who rotate between the two practices, partners Martin Stevenson and Kathryn Harper and part time associate, Beth Kalus. All three have worked in the practice for at least 22 years, so we are a uniquely stable and highly respected professional team.
Martin specializes in fitting contact lenses of all descriptions including multifocal lenses and therapeutic lenses such as those used to treat Keratoconus.
Beth has a special interest in low visual aids for those with poor sight and was involved in setting up the Low Vision Aid Centre at Gedding Road, now called Vista.
Kathryn is a longstanding member of the Local Optical Committee, as Beth and Martin have been in the past, and was very much involved in the setting up of the Direct Cataract Referral Service in Leicestershire under the Government’s “Choose and Book” Initiative. It is one of the biggest and most successful schemes in the country, praised by both ophthalmologists and patients alike.
Baz Barot is our dispensing optician in the Wigston practice, where his experience forms the link between the clinical and cosmetic aspects of our work. We have a lens workshop here which allows us to glaze frames at this practice.
The professional staff is ably supported by our fantastic team of clinical assistants - Jane, Keely, Sophie, Hollie, and part time since the birth of her twins, Annie in Wigston and Debbie in the Hinckley Road practice.
